A profile of Elle Smart, senior metallurgist with Mineral Resources. We spent a day on site following Elle through her shift, from the plant floor to the lab and the meetings in between, to show what a senior metallurgist actually does and how she approaches the work. The film is built for two audiences at once: people considering the role, and people deciding whether MinRes is where they want to do it.
APPROACH
Profile films fail when the subject performs for the camera, so the day ran on Elle's schedule and the camera fitted in around it. We kept the crew small, captured the technical work as it happened rather than staging it, and let her explain the job in her own words on the go. This also means that the subject quickly feels comfortable in front of the camera as they are back in their world, not ours.
IMPACT
MinRes gets a recruitment asset that shows the job instead of describing it, with a credible senior voice and the real site behind her. It also serves as company-profile content, since a day with one of your best people says more about a business than a corporate overview does. For us it's another chapter in a client relationship now in its sixth year, and a format we can repeat for any role a resources company is trying to fill.
