Act Belong Commit: Mental Health in the Pilbara

ABOUT
Act Belong Commit is Western Australia's long-running mental health promotion campaign, and this chapter took it to the Pilbara. Working with agency 303, we travelled across the remote North West filming the community groups, clubs and volunteers who keep people connected in some of the most isolated towns in the country.
APPROACH
A campaign about community only works if the people in it feel real, so we kept the footprint small and let each group do what they actually do. Filming across remote communities also means the logistics are half the job: distances, heat, and one chance at each location. We planned the run like an expedition and shot it like a documentary.
IMPACT
The campaign gave Act Belong Commit authentic faces and places from a region where the message matters most, isolation being one of the biggest pressures on mental health in the North West. For us it shows we can deliver agency-led campaign work in remote WA, handle sensitive subject matter with care, and come back with the goods from locations where there are no second trips.
